Thomas Schiller

Thomas Schiller is a freelance consultant and analyst. Previously, he was active as a Senior Programme Officer at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research in Dakar/ Senegal. From 2018 bis 2021 he was director of the Regional Programme for the Sahel of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation based in Bamako/ Mali. Before that, he worked as Head of Team Corporate Citizenship Affairs at BASF SE and as Managing Director in an Industry Association. From 2007 to 2011 Thomas Schiller was Head of the Regional Programme Maghreb of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, responsible for the offices in Rabat (Morocco), Algiers (Algeria) und Tunis (Tunisia). He started his professional career as research assistant at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) and worked as foreign and European policy advisor in the German Bundestag. 

 

Thomas Schiller studied Political Science, Economics and History at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. He also graduated from the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po). 

 

He is the author of numerous publications on North Africa, the transformation processes in the Arab World, international relations, European affairs and the Franco-German relationship. He also worked as a lecturer on international relations at the University Koblenz-Landau and the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris. He speaks fluently German, French and English.
