Thomas Schiller is Director of the
Regional Programme Sahel of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) based in Bamako/ Mali. Before joining the KAS, he worked as Head of Team Corporate Citizenship Affairs at BASF SE and as Managing
Director in an Industry Association. From 2007 to 2011 Schiller was Head of the Regional Programme Maghreb of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, responsible for the offices in Rabat (Morocco), Algiers
(Algeria) und Tunis (Tunisia). He started his professional career as research assistant at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) and worked as foreign and European
policy advisor in the German Bundestag.
Mr. Schiller studied Political Science, Economics and History at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. He also graduated from the Institut d'Études Politiques de
Paris (Sciences Po).
Mr. Schiller is the author of numerous publications on North Africa, the transformation processes in the Arab World, international relations, European affairs and the
Franco-German relationship. He also worked as a lecturer on international relations at the University Koblenz-Landau and the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris. He speaks fluently German,
French and English.
